Welcome!

Thanks for joining us in this little corner of the internet. Here you'll be able to share things you're working on, interact with other community members, and more!

If you're feeling a little disoriented by the newness of forum life, then you've come to the right post - let's break down some of the features of QuackBB and how you can interact with them!

Logging In / Registering

So, you're ready to dive in and get started chatting! That's great. First you'll need to create an account. You can register for an account using an email and password, or you can register by scrolling to the bottom of the form and selecting one of Discord, Google, or Twitch (you can add connections later to your account from the User Control Panel > Edit Connections if you wish).

Quote:NOTE: QuackBB will never save your login credentials from Discord, Google, or Twitch on the server. Passwords are stored as securely as possible, but since MyBB forum software doesn't allow you to add a 2FA, I highly recommend using a social login and making sure your password for that site is long and that you enable 2FA with either a passkey or authenticator app. 2FA via phone number or email is less secure.

Changing Your Theme

There are currently a few themes available to select from that will change the way the forum looks for you. These can be accessed in the User Control Panel > Edit Options > Other Options > Board Style. The default theme is "MyBB Standard". Themes can make the content on the forum look nicer, but it may not always display plugin content correctly.

If you will be browsing this forum primarily from a mobile or tablet device, I HIGHLY recommend setting your theme to TekBB or Curves UI. This will ensure that forum content loads (mostly) properly on your device.

Craving dark mode? I highly recommend the browser plugin Dark Reader. It will allow you to invert the bright colors on the site for a better reading experience.

Below you'll see examples. In order: MyBB Standard, Curves UI, TekBB

Using Smilies

We currently have a number of cute custom emojis provided to us by the wonderful @rikindled! You can use these by selecting them from the smilies menu while drafting a post, or you can reference them directly by putting the smilie name between colon characters. For example:

Code:

:flower:

would become in your message.

Adding Attachments

Want to insert an image or other form of media into your post? While editing, scroll to the bottom-most panel labeled "Attachments". Upload your files, then put the cursor in the editor where you'd like the file to be located. Click the "Insert Into Post" button next to your attachment and there you go!

Be a Good Neighbor

We are all trying to just exist in this bizarre and strange world we live in, so: treat one another with respect. If you have any complaints about another user, please contact someone on the forum team immediately for assistance! Not passing the vibe check and having a history of negativity will result in a permanent ban from the community.

Because of limited server resources, before posting a large file, consider uploading it to a place like itch, Imgur, or similar hosting site and posting a link to the original media (and then include a reduced-size version to embed in your post if desired)! The max upload size for all forms of content is 2MB (this is a PHP limit and not one that I have imposed myself).

Remember that this an online and public space. Do not share information that could put you or others at risk. Your posts may show up in search engine results or other odd places across the web.

Welcome and have fun!!
